The Year 6 team is Mr Khunti, Miss Heath, Miss Walden, Mr Newcombe and Miss Hatton.
The children will also have PHSCE lessons with Mrs Hurren and Spanish lessons with Ms Diaz.
We are all looking forward to working with you to ensure that the children have a wonderful final year at primary school and finish the year feeling both ready and excited for secondary school.
On this page, you will find key information about our routines, expectations and curriculum. This includes our knowledge organisers. Knowledge organisers outline what the children will be learning in each term across all subjects. They include key facts and vocabulary for the children to discuss with you and practise recalling at home. By the end of each unit of learning, they need to be able to explain these facts and vocabulary to others confidently. The knowledge organisers also include suggestions for ways the children could deepen their understanding through research and other tasks at home. We hope you find them useful.
If you need to contact a member of the team for support, questions or concerns, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We are also available at the start and end of the school day to talk to you in person or can be contacted by phone via the school office.
Key information and expectations
Please watch the presentation below for key information and expectations - a PDF version of the slides from the presentation can be found below.
Swimming lessons are on Monday afternoons. Please ensure your child brings their kit each week. If your child wishes to wear goggles, you will need to complete a permission slip to allow them to do this. Please see the letter below about this - the school office is able to provide a copy of this form too.
PE lessons are on Tuesday afternoons. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing their PE kit and remembers to remove any jewellery.
Start of the day
8:40am – 8:50am
The children should come into school via the Compton Road entrance.
They should walk straight up to their classroom at this time.
The gates will close promptly at 8:50am. Any children arriving in class after this time will be marked as late.
The children may bring a healthy snack (such as fruit, carrot sticks, rice cakes, a low-sugar cereal bar) from home to eat at this time.
All snacks must be nut-free.
Children can bring a healthy packed lunch or have a school dinner.
Please see below for this year’s school dinner menu.
End of the day
The children will be dismissed from the small gate near the school’s car park.
They will need to be collected by a parent or carer unless permission has been provided for them to walk home on their own.
