Support for families over the summer period

Dear Parents/Carers,

Although school is shut over the summer period there may be parents of vulnerable children and keyworker children that still need access to child care, if this is the case please visit the link below which has a list of providers that will be continuing to provide care through the summer holidays. Unfortunately under the current guidelines providers are unable to provide this for children in other groups.

I know that many of the families at St Mary’s Fields may be struggling financially and although the government have provided  free school meals over the summer there may be other families that are not currently entitled to this but need support with food provision. Please remember that you can contact the food bank at the Manor House to see if they can help or click on the link below has details of providers

Please also remember if you need any other support you can contact the local children’s centre which is where our Family support worker, Parmjit, will be based over the summer.

I have also attached a flyer from the Centre of fun and families –‘ we currently have a programme available to help & support families specifically during this unprecedented time.  This is free to access for all families in Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland with young people between 11-16.  We are accepting self-referrals directly from families.

The programme consists of a set of 4 sessions each for parents and young people, which complement each other so positive changes can be made quickly. The hour-long sessions are delivered via Zoom and will explore...

  • Communicating as a family
  • Dealing with difficult feelings and emotions including worry, anxiety and anger
  • Promoting good mental health
  • Ways to reduce difficult behaviour

Although this is predominantly for parents of secondary aged children. I thought it was sensible to share as you may have older children living in your household.

If you require any further support, please email or contact the school office.

Stay safe.
