Dear Parents/Carers,

Update on school closure and transition

I am writing to confirm that in light of the news of the Leicester lockdown, school will close tomorrow to all children apart from keyworkers. A keyworker space will need to be confirmed with the school office. Children should only attend the keyworker provision if there is no other safe alternative available.

This is not how I envisaged the year ending and I am so sad that children are not able to attend school and that the transition sessions (FS2-Year 6) that we had planned, will no longer be able to go head on school site. We are however arranging zoom transition meetings that will be held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. These meetings will include your child’s current teaching staff, new teaching staff and some of your child’s class mates (we thought all 30 children on a zoom at the same time would be very chaotic!). Children will have the opportunity to say goodbye to their current teacher and say hello to their new teacher. Parents are welcome to join the children on the zoom so you can meet your child’s new teacher. A letter with the time and zoom invite will come out to you in the coming days. Mrs Nott or I will be hoping to join you for a short time on the zoom.

Having a transition meeting in this form is not ideal but it is important the children have the opportunity to have contact with staff at the school before the end of the term. If your child is unable to log in for the zoom, class teachers have also been asked to post a video of themselves on the school website/you tube channel.

Home learning will continue to be uploaded onto the school website until the 10th July. A number of parents have requested a pack of work for over the summer holidays. Each class teacher will be preparing packs that can be collected next Thursday from outside the main door of the school. Each class will have a pick up time to collect a pack from a labelled box.

Free school meal vouchers will be ordered by the school for families that qualify for the whole of the summer holiday. These will be delivered in the normal way to you either by post or email. Any queries, please.

A number of parents have rung to ask if they can drop of a gift/card for their child’s class teacher. If you would like to do this, a box will be left outside by the reception door from Monday. Please leave the card/gift in the box. We will put a new box out every day so that gifts/cards can be left for 72 hours before distributing to the staff member.

I will send a further letter today that details new classes for children, staffing updates for next year, change in term dates and details re distribution of reports.

I can only express my sadness again for how this year is ending and I hope that will we will start on a more positive footing next year.

Kind regards,

Rebecca Dulieu
